SFDA requires stopping the production, selling, and use of fenfluramine hydrochloride raw materials and preparations

According to the notice issued by the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) on January 8, 2009, in view of the use of fenfluramine hydrochloride involving risk of causing heart valve damage and pulmonary arterial hypertension, fenfluramine hydrochloride (including raw materials) will be withdrawn from China's market. The production, selling, and use of fenfluramine hydrochloride (including raw materials) will be suspended, and the drug approval number was revoked. | |
