On Feb. 22, 2008, Deputy commissioner of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) Wu Zhen made an on-site investigation in Beijing on the drug safety assurance work for 2008 Olympic Games and held on-site work meeting.
Wu Zhen pointed out that Beijing Drug Administration had attached great importance to the drug safety assurance work for Beijing Olympic Games; conducted risk assessment and enhanced risk management; prepared support plans and defined work goals; strengthened doping management and reinforced rectification.
Wu Zhen emphasized that drug safety assurance work for Olympic Games is critical, and comprehensive efforts shall be made to continue to carry out rectification of doping management, clean up the drug market for Olympics, improve the emergency management mechanism for urgent drug safety events, accomplish the drug safety assurance work for Olympic Games with high quality, and make contributions to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Wu Zhen asked that the food and drug administrations at all levels to give full support to the drug safety assurance work of the six Olympic co-hosting cities and strengthen the doping management, adding that SFDA would convene a national videoconference on Olympic drug safety assurance and doping management to further deploy relevant work.
