The State Council adopts A Plan for Infrastructure Construction within the Food and Drug Supervisory and Administrative System



On June 29, 2005, Premier Wen Jiabao presided over an executive meeting of the State Council. The meeting heard the report delivered by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of infrastructure construction plans for food and drug supervisory and administrative system, and reviewed and approved in principle A Plan for Infrastructure Construction within the Food and Drug Supervisory and Administrative System.

The construction of the infrastructure of food and drug supervisory and administrative system involves drug tests, medical device test, monitoring system for adverse drug reactions, particularly, the construction of infrastructure for grassroots food and drug administrations and the revamp of drug testing institutions in central and western parts of the country. With the implementation of these projects, the national-level infrastructure will be able to meet the needs of food and drug supervisory and administrative and economic and social development while local food and drug supervision systems can perform their functions as required by laws. The meeting required that the projects in local areas are planned, distributed and implemented step-by-step by adopting the principle of the same standards, reasonable applicability, resource sharing and hierarchical leadership.
