On March 2, 2005, National Drug Registration Working Conference was held in Beijing. The meeting set out the key national drug registration work areas for 2005: (i) Continue to implement Action Scheme for Improving National Drug Standards and conduct a nationwide investigation of the implementation of national drug standards at the time of implementing Pharmacopoeia of People's Republic of China (2005), seeing if pharmaceutical companies are strictly implementing national drug standards. The Pharmacopoeia Commission of People's Republic of China is responsible for doing the work. (ii) Strengthen the supervision of blood products, vaccines and other biological products for mass-use. (iii) Issue Provisions for Examination and Approval of Prepared Slices of Chinese Crude Drugs to be Controlled by the Approval Number and work with the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) to formulate and issue The List of Prepared Slices of Chinese Crude Drugs to be Controlled by the Approval Number. (iv) Continue the work of superceding natural rubber stoppers and ensure that effective measures are taken to complete this job as scheduled. (v) Rectify the health food market and get rid of those products that safety and effectiveness are not guaranteed.
